Apollo Adds to Public Lineup

For the new year, private equity manager Apollo has in the works a credit fund that is to be publicly listed. This will be an addition to the several listed funds Apollo manages, in particular in real estate and mortgage finance strategies.

Most of those trade on NYSE but Apollo also has a NASDAQ-listed fund and in addition a Euronext-listed general investment vehicle.

It is not clear which exchange the new fund will trade on and when the initial public offering will be. The fund will invest in corporate loans and junk bonds, competing with similar new funds from KKR and Blackstone.

It seems private equity managers really like high-yield credit in the current low-interest environment. Certainly the strategy appeals to yield-seeking investors inĀ  the mass market where private equity players are increasingly raising money
